I've shot a good bit of cast bullets. Never had problem with the lead issues. We hard cast the majority of the lead that we shoot. Kroil takes care of any fowling.
Thanks for the info on the IMR powder.
My brother recent purchased a lee mold for a 300 blackout bullet in 230 grain. Has anybody on here used this bullet out of a 16" carbine with any success and if so what powder did you use and how much?
Just starting to reload for this round.Ive got a few loads that my rifle likes so far. I recently found some Speer plinker bullets in .308 diameter and looking foward to trying them and hope to do so after this overtime is done for. I'm wondering if anybody has ever used any of these?
Yeah I thought the same thing on the cost of it. I was glad that I found some but could not bring my self to pay that. May have to shoot what I can find.
I found Varget at Benton Shooters in Benton,TN if anybody is interested. They had several pounds. The only down side is it was $48 a pound. I really hope this is not the trend to come. If so may have to find factory ammo.
The cast bullets that I've been using have been made from wheel weights. They shot well in the 1911s that I've owned. EMC45,kroil is some good stuff. Always used it on the 1911s.
I just bought some thru midway usa in 45. Lots of fun. Able to shoot them yesterday on the back porch in the rain. Anybody else tried any of these and if so how did you like the cleanup? Forgot how dirty primers were.
I know the matchkings were not made for hunting but they shoot great and leave a nasty exit hole. You don't have to worry about A blood trail. It also makes for interesting conversation with the DNR officer when you check your deer in at the wma or state park hunts.
What is your favorite bullet for hunting. I've recently got some Sierra gamekings. I've used matchkings in the past with great success. What do y'all use?
