It took a couple weeks to get here, but well worth the wait. Three boxes of 500 count for .38 Special and .357 Mag. Good bullets.
Just went through reloading the last two boxes of 500, so the timing was good.
Yes! You do have to watch the steel pins. I do check each case for just that and I also tap them each on the bench once for the pins that rarely, but sometimes get caught inside the case. It does take a few extra seconds to do but obviously needed.
For years I did the media tumble with my brass. As soon as I switched to wet tumbling with steel pins, the quality of the output jumped way up.
Dawn and Lemi Shine on .308 and 30-06.
I did use a light crimp on these. The bolt will not close on the ones with scratches. I haven't been able to get to the reloading bench or range lately, but I'll try some changes and report back on the results.
Will do. I'm working up some loads this weekend. At the suggestion of Sierra bullets CS I'll also start lubing the inside of the case neck with Imperial Dry Neck Lube.
That could be. Bullets that fire and those with scratches are all mic'd at .309 at the scratch location. What I can't measure is if they are out of round. Since they only contact the lands on one small part of the bullet, maybe that is the out of round spot.
These are all SMK 168, so they...
Funny you mention that, I just ordered one yesterday off Amazon for that very reason. I’ve also had the Hornady comparator for a couple years now. Haven’t used it in my reloading lately, so I need to get that back out.
I’ll pull and weigh the bullets that did not seat just to double check...
A puzzler. I'm shooting my Remington 700 in 30-06. Last time out I had a couple rounds the bolt would not close on. That had never happened before. I've had the rifle for 5 years. Before taking it out again, I cleaned the barrel for copper fouling with Boretech.
Today it happened again...
About $1,000. True. Moderate.
Suggestions: You don't get into reloading to save money. If you are a casual shooter, run in the opposite direction of reloading and buy your ammo off the shelf.
If you are OK with never recouping your initial investment and continual equipment purchases and...
I also looked at the RCBS swage and Dillon. I ended up using an existing hand held Holland's primer pocket uniformer. Removed the cutting end and put it in a drill. Did a couple hundred 7.62 x 51 in short order. No extra money spent. It worked great.
