I understand the cost of primers. I like to shoot “deer type” rifles a lot. The .243 has always been my standard practice/truck/utility gun. A box of Core-Lokt ammo used to be 11.00 dollars - That is why I have a herd of .243 rifles. I used to keep one here, there, and everywhere. Always one to...
Share them if you got them.
I am looking at 70-80gr .243 and Mild FMJ for .308 - range time for trigger discipline, form, etc….
Maybe a cheaper than bulk type .223 load
CFE223 is the powder I am looking at for .223 and .308
Not sure about .243 with light bullets. All of my .243 loads are...
I neck size my brass using the same .243 kit.
Univeral decapper, Body die, Lee Mandrel the neck.
Works for me.
I reload for my cousin’s .300 Weatherby with a Lee Loader. He found one on EBay. It has allowed him to break it out and shoot it again
Still developing loads for a .243
Today l loaded 95gr SST
3-with 41grs of IMR-4350
3- with 40grs of STAball 6.man bun
**Lots of room left in the case with 40grs of 6.man bun - lots of stunt shooter potential**
*******Disclaimer********
I am by no means a reloading expert. Do nothing I say or...
Anyone loading .243 with StaBall 6.5? I am going to use it for 7mm-08, Hodgdon site showed good velocity in .243 loads. Would be nice to load both with this powder. It is cheaper than IMR-4350.
Check normashooting.com and order their 7mm-08 Whitetail ammo when it goes on sale. I bought 5 boxes for $23.00 bucks each. Easy button for nice once fired brass. Kills deers deader than ded too.
For many years .243 was a low cost blaster for practice. Current circumstances and the proliferation of 6.5 panty waist has basically wiped out production capacity for .243 - So I had to start reloading for all 3 of my .243 rifles.
Hit pay dirt yesterday with my Model 7
100gr Interlock
39.5...
I will second the Hornady 100gr Interlock. It seems to have the penetration ability of the partition at a lower cost. I have broken both shoulders of several deer with this bullet. They do fine on heart/lung shots as well.
