One thing about wet tumbling:
I have been loading for 40 years. I have NEVER had a "ringer", where the center of the primer pushes out and the rim of the primer stays in the primer pocket, until now. I had a 10k batch of brass that was wet tumbled and not dried quickly. The primers corroded...
You can figure on $1800 for a used 1050, plus $400 for the used Bullet Feeder. I can't find a price on the Forscht auto-drive conversion, but most Auto-Drives run around $1200 to 2500.
I have two LabRadars and use them extensively, both indoors and outdoors. If the Garmin does what it says it does, I agree with the above comment. The rechargeable battery and size/weight difference will steer folks in their direction.
I wonder what the range of the Radar will be. The...
That Hodgdon data was out of a 5" barrel (and I'd put money on it being a conventionally-rifled barrel). Put that load in a 6" polygonally-rifled barrel and you could EASILY get an extra 150 fps out of the deal.
Assuming your powder scale is well-calibrated, it's like others have said: if you...
I buy those things by the gross, just because of this.
Most of my brass comes from a range with the rubber pellet backstop. If a piece of rubber sticks in the case and makes it into my machine, voila'!!!
You're correct: HP-38 and Win 231 are the same exact powder.
But, I don't think I'd use that for anything but the lightest loads. Most in-the-book loads for 115s will be pretty anemic with that fast of a powder. Something slower can get you up into the 1200+ fps range, while HP-38/231 maxes...
Full-power 9X25 in an uncompensated pistol is BRUTAL. The whole reason for going to the bottlenecked cartridge was to be able to use a metric butt-load of slow powder in the load, thus producing more gas to drive a compensator. The original loads actually recoiled DOWN, which was quite...
I have done that, but....
It was to mount two Dillon 1050s. They don't work like a conventional press. Everything happens on the downstroke. Regular presses have that "primer seating" motion at the end of the upstroke. That will jar the heck out of a toolbox-on-wheels setup, even if the...
Surprisingly, Yes. He was blazing 180s at 1220 fps....
When I saw those velocities, I swore that he must've grabbed a box of 165s or 155s by mistake while reloading. It felt a bit snappy, but nothing abusive.
Wear your safety glasses Boys and Girls....
This weekend, I was running the Chronograph stage at the state USPSA match. I had to pull a bullet to weigh it for my first shooter on Saturday. Put the cartridge into a kinetic bullet puller and hit it on a wood bench sitting next to me. The round...
I agree with those who advocated using separate Seater and Crimp dies. My logic is "How can you crimp something in-place that is still moving?".
The only exception that I'd see to this rule is if your selected bullet has a cannelure. If we're targeting the cannelure correctly, then the bullet...
I agree about the Bluetooth app. I have two LabRadars. One of them connects well and works with the App. The other one? <crickets...>
I have installed a Bluetooth Connectivity app on my phone that supposedly fixes those issues, but I haven't been able to test it yet. It's available thru...
I do a LOT of chronographing, so I am always looking for the next great thing. The BulletSeeker is a bit pricey, once you do the Currency conversion. 792 British Pounds equals 962 bucks at today's exchange rate.
As far as features go, if it works like the Instruction Manual says, it should be...

Besides twist rate, the only other tidbit I have is if you find accuracy to be somewhat lacking, try seating the bullet backwards. I loaded 210 gr 308 vld that refused to group well until they went butt first. No idea what witchcraft that was.

I have to ask: What in the...
I share your concerns with Detonation and Case Volume, but its not like you're forging a new path here.
I don't think I'd go any lower than those starting loads, but since they're published, I would assume that Nosler/Lyman/Hornady/Alliant/Hodgdon. et. al., would've tested them extensively.
