I’ve personally used a Vortex Venom on a Franchi Affinity 12 gauge shooting 3.5” Apex TSS and it held perfectly fine. And those particular Apex kick harder than anything I’ve handled. Also multiple friends use the Burris fastifire 2 and 3 and have no issues. We all use Sumtoy mounts
I’m not particularly recoil sensitive, but the Apex 3.5” made me want to stop shooting them. I can’t recall anything I’ve ever shot kicking that bad! They are definitely nasty!
My hunting friends started using it a couple years ago in 20 gauge, so I figured I’d try it. I’m impressed to say the least. I’m shooting a Franchi Affinity 3.5, Indian Creek .665 choke and Apex 3” #9s. I tried the 3.5” also but the pattern wasn’t much better. Pictured below was at 45 yards off...
Hopefully getting these two out this weekend to pattern them. This is my first year using a red dot, so we will see how it goes. This year has flown by so far!
I’ve heard good things about those. Tried them in my rifle and it was shooting about a 3” group. Switched to federal fusion and it was under 1” consistently. Let me know how it does!
I just finished my 6.5 Grendel build and plan to use it some to hunt with this year. Anyone have any first hand experience with using one for deer? I’ve ordered some of the Hornady ELd match and Hornady SST stuff to try. I’m planning to hunt with the SST because I’ve had success in the past...
I know it's still deer season, but trying to find something pretty early. If you are in a club or know of any that may have an opening come next year let me know. Would love it if it were close to Rome, Cedartown, Rockmart, or even Cave spring. Pm me if anyone has any leads! Thanks!
