  1. What bait do you use to bring the deer in that actually works? Either DIY secret homebrew or store bought.

Underlay with heavy tarp. Retards infiltration, and concentrates salt content as moisture evaps. Once established it will become part of the deer’s annual pattern. Ours is at least 30 years old. We use it for the less mobile hunter. Only error was locating it in the middle of a 200 yr old...
  2. What 10 mm for my back country hunts?

    Chest holster only way.
  3. What 10 mm for my back country hunts?

“Backcountry” means lightweight, esp in tough terrain at higher elevations. Even more so if successful hunt. G20, 29, XDM are therefore consideration. Although I love my 1911 10mm’s, G20 is what I carry hiking up there.
  4. Copperhead strike

Regulars in our Gwinnett subdivision yard. Pisses the staffie off bad. She brings back dead one all the time.
  5. This could have went south.

Has em just like that on our porch in evergreen co. Wiping out the potted flowers. We could come and go out the door and they’d just watch. They know where they are safe, and the population explodes. Many towns in co have this problem.
  6. Elk Hunter Shot Near Kremmling (real)

Familiar with elk hunting in the area (local family). Visitors get real excited. Overly popular areas are flat out dangerous. We stick to the wilderness areas simply because it is much harder hunting, and therefore much safer! and never ever ever remove orange. Damn shame life lost.
  7. Hunting the line

    Nice stand. Good find.
  8. Woods carry

Marvin well made well designed knifes. Collector items. But very difficult to not use.
  9. Deer blowing

I found that there are different “blows”, some flat out alarm. More commonly is a curiosity kind a thing. Blowing back at them is great fun, and occasionally can become a conversation. I usually don’t move because our density is high, and more come along soon enough.
  10. Adventures in tree stands

See the other add for mtn climbing gear. Might want to work on rope skills! LOL
  11. Don't Fall Asleep Hunting.....Sad Incident.

Very sad. And not rare. Dangerous sport without safety gear.
  12. "That" guy on the dove field...

Anyone ever been to the Thanksgiving shoot at the Iron Horse? Donuts and coffee with Jack prior, then oysters and beer with Alex after. Even killed a few dove. Best part was the eclectic crowd. and of course the one time Miss Pattie ran off the new warden with a finger wagging lecture about...
  13. "That" guy on the dove field...

Forget the dove, I've brought home a couple a good dogs from those fields.
  14. Redlands WMA

Go deep on the east side of 15, and stay away from the ruins. But there is a bow only area on the west side that is nice during the week later in gun season. Visit the station on down 15 (west side) at the dove field to meet wardens. and yes it can get crowded, and some locals are asses. If...
  15. New box blinds in Ohio

Snored a young doe in once that layed down beside me! I missed the AC unit in that GA one. lol
  16. GA DNR

In writing is all that counts.
  17. What's your favorite hog hunting weapon?

Over dogs. Knife. Learned from some buds from Savannah.
  18. Redlands WMA

Pretty active on weekends. The campground at Oconee River and Rt. 15 is a nice small loop maybe 12 sites, no electric, full weekends. gets patrolled regularly, which is good. Wardens had a gunfight with a camper/poacher in site next to ours in the late 80s! picnic tables are concrete and...
  19. Deer Hunting with 10mm
