Check out my post about our club. It's a little under 2 hours from Winder.

Once deer season gets going look online and find processors. They usually have guys that will take deer in but not pick them up. They sell the meat for processing fees.
This really pisses me off. I used to spend a lot of time at Lake Russell WMA. A beautiful piece of land with a great trout stream running through it. Go down to the stream and find empty corn cans and worm cups. It's enough to make an indian cry.
Shot a nice boar hog in the marshes west of Darien Ga this AM. It's crazy high tides so we cruised up small creeks at high tide and pulled in to the marsh. It was on Altamaha WMA land. This guy was at least 200lb.
6.8 AR has been my primary for the last 5-6 years and has been fantastic. Handloaded with 110gr Barnes tipped tripleshock. It gets it done every time. I have a AR-10 I've taken out a couple of times but haven't shot anything with it yet. I've loaned my 7.62x39 AR to my nephew and a buddy when...
I moved to the coast last year. I THOUGHT I had put my muzzleloaders in the closet next to my gun safe. Nope. They were both out in the shop. The humid non air conditioned shop. The stainless .45 wasn't bad. I sprayed Kroil all over bolt and breech plug. It cleaned up fairly easy. Here's where I...
I am waiting for my stamp and I'm kind of pissed. It's been almost 300 days. I was expecting to have it at least by rifle season and it doesn't look like that's going happen.
They bumped the deadline for applying and did a poor job of notifying the public. At least they realized their mistake gave points to people. Next year will be my year to go. I'll do a hunt somewhere down here near home in zone 7.
Well now don't I feel stupid. They changed the wording. The regs say you can use center fire for foxes and bobcats. I called the region 4 game office to clarify. If you are hunting "foxes and bobcats" you can use a center fire rifle. If you happen upon a hog then it's fine to shoot it. The...
22-250 is Centerfire. That's a no go. Small game is rimfire, shotguns with birdshot, archery, and blackpowder. We've stacked up some hogs before using blackpowder. I'm sure we could do it again. I wondered the last couple of years if someone at DNR wouldn't figure this out and at the very least...
We have been going down to Oaky Woods WMA and hog hunting during small game season for the last 10 years or so. We started out going with .22 mag rifles and then figured out that muzzleloaders were the way to go. A few years ago DNR changed the regs and allowed for hunting coyotes on WMA's with...
I handload using Barnes TTSX 110gr. with 28.5 gr of AA2230. Very accurate and very lethal. I've shot deer and hogs with excellent results. I have a similar handload using Nosler 110gr Accubond with 28gr AA2230. Excellent accuracy. I haven't hunted with them but Accubond bullets have a great...
I went in to check on a food plot I have in front of a ladder stand late Tuesday afternoon. I was looking down the hill and there stood a 2 1/2 year old 8 point. Directly underneath my ladder. We stared at each other for several minutes until I got bored and moved. He took off. I hope he...
I identified similar spot at the end of last season. I'll be setting up there for bow season. I hate the heat during bow season but love getting back in the woods.
We got in the woods last Friday and set up in a couple of blinds that were about 750 yards apart on a long narrow food plot. There were 2 turkeys that started gobbling in between us at 7:30am. They were still on the roost and were gathering hens. They flew down and never made another peep and...
