Don't let it get you down. That's hunting and some of my best hunts, came from being frustrated as hell and seeing nothing, or not being able to take shots. You'll get one and it'll be that more gratifying
The biggest thing you need to do, is get out and scout the property prior to season. Find the game trails, where the feed, bed down etc., Once you've done that, set up trail cams and try to pin down which direction the frequently come from and the times. Deer, believe it or. Or, are very lazy...
I agree. I got off a private lease last year due to increasing cost and got onto Public Land this year. It's been extremely frustrating. Since September, I've seen 3 deer(1 buck & 2 does). I took a little longer shot than normal 45yds(bow) and the buck jumped my arrow and some d bag trying to...
That's kind of my thought as well. There's been too many times where people have shot something, "just because" they wanted another buck. I can count on one hand how many people shot a tiny buck BC they truly needed meat(which I'm fine with), but can't begin to count the number of people that...
I agree with you and I completely understand why people do it, if the meat is the true need. What I don't like(personally), is people that have tagged out or have more than they need in meat, but take a small buck because they haven't taken 1 in the season. Now there's also cases where people...
If it was my property and I was managing the game, than yes. But I hunt for meat more than wall mounts. If I'm hunting for something with points, then I want the big boy. I've already passed on several 4-6pts this year. But nobody will ever be able to convince me, that shooting a button/spiker...
I agree with this. Though, that's the big difference between managing bucks on your private land .vs. managing bucks on public land. Passing on the small bucks and letting them mature, unless you're taking out old bucks with poor scores and crappy genetics, to ensure quality offspring, is what...
Yea. I'm basically in the same position. I've got 3 doe's in the freezer and now I'm just waiting on a big boy to come along. I've passed on a few 6pts, hoping he'll come by here soon. The rut ain't far off so we still got time.
Personally, I'd like to see the entire state regulate the min number of points on antlers to 8(min of 4/side). There's nothing that erks me more, that seeing somebody coming out of the woods with a spiker or 4 pointer BC they didn't want to end the season empty handed. Small bucks become big...
Does anybody know how to get in touch with member Echo1? He was offering some spots to hog hunt on his property. Or if anybody has a good amount of land with some hogs to hunt, I have a few buddies(myself included) that would pay for a day or 2.
