Hoping to find some bigger ones, we have rubs on trees close to 3” in diameter, pretty sure there is a big boy or two around here. I had access to another property where a friend needed his herd thinned so they had a sanctuary year on my land. We stayed off the majority of it while season was...
Early lessons in the house I grew up in included a learned respect for peoples‘ property. We hunted other folks land but never without permission. Dad also offered help bailing hay, cleaning fencerows, whatever needed for allowing us to hunt there.
Different world today.
They can go for miles after being shot or hit by a vehicle and sometimes will live for days. This deer could have been hit far from where it was found. Killed a doe one time and when skinning her it appeared her spine had been broken at some point in the past and had completely healed.
I’ve never seen a bobcat with a tail. Housecats go feral quickly, coloration changes within a few generations. This cat likely consumes a fair number of rats and mice but also no doubt quite a few rabbits and would eat quail if there were any left. Let your conscience be your guide.
G-4 on the left side is shorter. If this was a different year that might account but likely (thought not positively) it would be longer in the later photo. Congratulations on a great buck. There is enough similarities that they likely are closely related.
