Yonah has a number of spots to rappelling from. It's busy with hikers on the weekends so would require a few people to be with you. At least a belay person and someone up top at the anchor point.
There is "the boulder" there that is specifically for rappelling. It's a 40 or 50 foot drop with...
Love hiking. Want to do more distance and overnighters but the wife isn't in to sleeping in the woods. I was just looking into doing the whole ga AT section in one shot.
I never stop to take pictures other than flowers or rocks. Hmm. I'll have to look.
Thanks sloe_moe. I'll look into these.
If any of you MTB guys are unaware, there is a new trail system in development in Cleveland. I's a lot of land that is owned by the state and has been deeded to the county for development. The plan is 21 miles of MTB trails, and the land is around 1,500...
Sloemoe- thanks for that. You make a point that is why I asked. When I search CL, I see a number of older bikes, no front suspension, for a couple hundred and more, and some known brands like Cannondale and Gary Fisher for which there is name recognition, but I don't know enough to know whether...
What are good used bikes, and how do I get one sized for me. I'm 6'3".
I've looked on CL at Specialized stumpjumper, Novara, Trek, etc. but can't tell much about frame size as some at 18" and some are up to 21".
I'm shopping for a mountain bike. I haven't had one for a while, and when I did, it was a 1985 Schwinn Sierra.
Easy question- I don't want to spend a whole lot, so am I better off buying a 15-20 year old quality bike, or a Walmart special for a starter. I'm willing to spend $150, but not much more.
I need sliders but managed to get through all of AOPs intermediate trails without damage. A couple spots I did scrub the frame and t case skid, but the rockers came out okay. I have 5" lift and 35s so that helps.

Yep still open and a pretty good place. The pics were 2015, and the park was pretty new. There should be more trails now
Is your Broncos locked? Lockers are very useful if not required there.
That was AOP Adventure Offroad Park, west of Chattanooga, South Pittsburg, TN. In the second pic, that was a pretty steep and rocky hill climb. I found out that my front locker wasn't engaging just before this pic was taken. I had to pound on it a bit with just the rear locked to get over a...
My lil station wagon. Kinda like a Subaru Outback. She's sick right now after a broken timing chain. I'm trying to get the umph under my butt to finish refixing her. First pics isn't a poser pic. The camera guy just snapped it at the right moment as I drove along at AOP.
Not that it's realistic, but as I got caught up on the thread, my mind wondered off into thinking about teaching a parrot or cockatoo to hunt like falconing, and teaching them to mock the prey, like "Silly wabbit" "we're going wabbit hunting" and "Got you sucka"
I made some batches of Mead a few months back and will be get back in to it because there's really nothing like it, but I've considered making some stout at home.
the real secret might just be that I don't like beer any more and since Guinness tastes like milk and burnt toast, maybe that's why...
Well, for me it's Guinness or Southern Comfort and Pepsi/Dr.Pepper, but with the Soco, I find I drink too much, and when I get up the next morning and find that I drank half of a half gallon, there's a guilt that I refuse to accept, so I delay resuming drinking til at least 9am. I call that...
After mostly a 15 year hiatus from drinking, I've resumed to some degree (well a lot lately).
The back story is when I was young, a buddy and I tried about everything available, from any and everything from Germany, Czech pilsner, Ales, and everything else too. This was way before the...
Anyone here made/making it?
A buddy and I bought the gear to make some small batches back in June/July. I made a cherry melomel using
3 pounds frozen, pitted sweet cherries
4 pounds clover honey
a cup of OJ
half packet of Lalvin 1116 champagne yeast
1 gallon of spring water
pectic enzyme...
