This is ridiculous. They don’t follow any sort or rhyme or reason. Submitted one Nov 2023 and ATF says it’s still at the FBI background check stage. Despite working for the govt at a high priority location, being a Marine with a Secret Clearance, and already had prior approvals. Makes no sense.
Agreed, sell what you have and buy one in the config you want. Swapping trunnions is going to get expensive. Personally, I hate the way under-grip adapters look but, if you don't mind it, it's a very easy install. Drilling the trunnion is easy too and looks better, imo. But to each his own...
SilencerShop had added a form 1 feature. It's in Beta, but I've heard it's working well.
The other option is DIY on the ATF website.

If you're going to replace your CH, this is at least worth a shot first. It works well, in my experience.

Gas buster charging handles mitigate the gas face issue. Not a fan of adjustable gas blocks. If you want to save $$, drill a small hole in existing charging handle, opposite the side you shoot. And add some gasket maker in the receiver gap. Makes a significant difference.
After I first tried these, I started putting them in every build. Been running them for a few years now and not a single issue. Hands down worth it. Smoother than Rick James on coke dipped in baby oil, dancing on butter.

I moved while my Form 4 was processing. SilencerShop said there's no need to update any information, as it's just used to prove state residency. Updating would just hinder the process in the system because all the paperwork would need to be updated. When the ATF process your background, they'll...
Lol. Good reasoning. But if you haven’t fired a gun inside a home with no hearing protection, you’ll wish you had a suppressor. The concussion can severely mess up your equilibrium. Been there, done that and it’s not fun. Not to mention, if there’s others in the house it will scare the bejeebus...
If you want to save money, drill a small hole in your existing charging handle. I’ve done it with 2 of my personal ARs, and we did it in the Marines when we were issued Surefire cans.
Seems like hassle. I just put a little gel in the end and it's good for 4-5 shots. While hunting that's all one needs. It is a bit messy but I'll just drop my can in an ultrasonic cleaner. I was reading that adding wipes to cans not designed for it causes all sorts of issues, like increased...
Those take much longer to install but I guess it’s worth it. I can just drop a bit of gel in a second and go. How long do they last? What do you recommend? And I see they are ATF regulated. Lol
@calebp
I just drop a little electrode gel in the front and it's good to go. It works well for hunting (or assassins). Drop a couple turkeys or deer before the others decide to beat feet. lol. Sucks when another hunter shoots nearby and scares everything off.
