I planted 50 slips a couple of weeks ago. The deer are ravaging them. A row of 17 is down to 4. Heck they are eating the tops out of my red potatoes. Not sure the sweets will survive.
I forgot to mention I bought the Georgia jet variety.
Also, I usually plant red potatoes the week of Valentine's but am running behind. Those should go in this week.
How about the Israeli canned tuna and toilet paper? Provides light, not much of a heat source, and warms your tuna. People also poke a hole in the can add a string wick for a longer use candle.
I put chicken wire barrier around my tree today using t post. Makes it a pain to keep clean around the base of the tree. However the deer have already hit my apple tree eating the new growth.
I planted two fig trees last weekend. I pruned my plum, peach, and apple to try to bring them back. However they are poor. The year I planted them the deer damaged them badly before I could get wire around them. Never recovered. They may also be wrong for the area. I never considered that.
Just wanted to see what you are using and your experience. Is it a good backup for the woods or last ditch self defense? I'm thinking of a small push knife to wear around the neck in a scabard. Something like these.

I've repotted them and one already has new growth. I haven't picked a place to plant them yet. I thought with my plum trees but they get the nw wind which may explain why they struggle. I've looked at another place or two but don't think I can keep the deer out of them. So still haven't made...
