  7. Long term food storage

Amazon has a lot of options just make sure to view the thicker mill ones. I used a regular iron to seal a good bit of them up with ease on packing day.
  8. I bought some bulk rice and beans. How do I store them?

I’m not sure if anyone has ever watched any of those survivalist shows and noticed the first things everyone tries to acquire in stages. Shelter, water, fire, food. Normally I see situations where the person is dropped in a remote area so naturally the persons seek shelter first. I can...
  9. I bought some bulk rice and beans. How do I store them?

I’m not looking for a long term food stash to be honest, more like a 24 month and rotate what we have regularly. To be honest, I’m just trying to store enough to off set some food costs as well as have the ability to wait out standing in lines with hostile people if it came down to it. Let...

  11. I bought some bulk rice and beans. How do I store them?

This is essentially a 1k case of 9mm for $180…. This is about 20 min ago I think everyone should buy what they can to set aside but you know everyone seemed to have missed the ammo when the pickings were good…
  12. I bought some bulk rice and beans. How do I store them?

OP, a few years back I found any grocery store that has a bakery would literally give me the icing buckets for free…. It’s a little tougher getting them now as the public has caught onto it. The icing buckets are food grade, gasket seals, and anywhere from 2-4 gal. I collected around 10 each...
  13. I bought some bulk rice and beans. How do I store them?

Don’t laugh but… Sam’s Club also sells large stackable dog food storage containers for $14 They also sell a 3 pack of Rubbermaid cereal containers for $12. I can tell you that 4 #50’s stack neat in the dog food containers and the cereal containers keep well on the counter top full of rice...
  14. Long term food storage

@greg vess you might invest in a 3 cup rice cooker for around $15 if you don’t have one already. I’ve moved on to a much larger 6 cup uncooked rice cooker and it’s the bees knees!
  15. Long term food storage

I am not sure I would stock up on instant or parboiled rice. You can get a 40lb bag of standard long grain rice at Sam’s for around $15ish. I usually buy two and we go through one bag in about 2 months. I also get short grain rice in bulk from a local oriental market and use it pretty...
  16. Long term food storage

You’d be surprised on what you can store in a food grade bucket with Mylar bags for long term. Rice, beans, sugar, oats, flour, popcorn... then you can get tuna, canned chicken, and also salted meats. Prob around 1/4 the price of that space food stuff lol
  17. Best Camping Style Propane Stove

I’ve used the Coleman two burners with the little tiny propane cans for glamping and it served its purpose. Now my father in law snagged a decent folding style two burner stove that is a bit hefty and runs on a standard 20lb grill tank... that thing is AWESOME! Heats up cast iron like a real...
  18. Cooking Pots

I’ve got a 12” cast iron specifically for my grill that I use regularly.
  19. Alcohol deals for trade fodder.

You honestly think people will be friendly enough to trade in peace if it came down to it? Would you literally set up shop and let someone you don’t know just walk up to you when SHTF? I say skip it all and invest in long term water supplies, verify your scope dope regularly, and prepare your...
  20. Tomato Leaves - Any gardeners?

Started mine about 4 weeks ago from seeds using a 3yr old 18 pack container. Plan to transplant them into bigger containers within the next couple of days and have them on the back deck like my brother in law did last year. I’m using the MG potting mix and a sprinkle of triple 13 in the...
