I will answer this the way I answered it the last time a similar question was asked. Some of us just prefer to keep out food reserves on our bodies instead of in a survival pack. Not saying that people shouldn't keep in shape but you have to keep one thing in mind. In hard times, fat people get...
First off, welcome to the trader!
I have a friend who does this with ammo. I guess it keeps it dry and safe from the elements. Have seen some gun parts oiled and sealed but never a whole gun. I will say this, I have taken ammo off of the shelf in my garage after 10 yrs of sitting and it still...
My 7 yr old has done the same thing for years. He keeps some toys, a pocket knife, batteries, video game, and a bunch of animal bones he's collected over the years in a green backpack 'just in case he needs it'.
Christmas gingerbread dillernads are really a seasonal item. I think he is looking for something like chipmonk chitlins which can be found year-round. :)

I gotta agree with 83rdrecon. Each area will probably be dealing with a different scenario (at least to an extent). I think by knowing your area and the people around you it will be easier to organize into groups of like-minded individuals.
My thoughts are community. Not necessarily finding a small town but creating one. I have several like-minded friends who are spread out enough that one of us should have room for everyone depending on what happens where. we all have our contributions. some by expertise and some by providing...
IMHO They already are.
I think the govt will colapse and the result will be anarchy. Military, LEOs and the like may be sworn to protect and serve but I seriously doubt they will do it when they are no longer paid. I'm sure most people will still side with what's 'right', but that line is so...
