Ironically I fired my Honda genny up just yesterday. 2 pull but I do run it often for 20+min each time at minimum monthly. It is the only small equip engine I leave treated fuel in.
Stihl Chainsaw only when its needed for the past 18+ yrs. I always run it (and all other small equip) completely...

This is a fantastic sharpener that's light and portable for about $25.
If you follow the instructions/steps and hold proper angles, it works great.
Machetes have their limitations and will disappoint (and tire you) in trying to cut larger things as you state and forget about trying to baton wood for kindling processing with a machete.

Currently my only long term food storage is around my waist. Wouldn't be fun but I could go quite a while without food. I do have alternative means to sanitize water and an 18,000 gallon supply right off my back deck !!

All you really need is a couple different size skillets and you're covered but I've acquired more than I need over the years like this cornbread wedge pan that I used yesterday:
I put one together in an evening out of some scrap metal I had left over.
I designed it so it all stows in a fat 50 ammo can.
It really puts out the heat and uses little scraps/branches/twigs/pine cones that's all over my yard.
I'll try and find some pics I took of it.
If it prevents me from driving to work for two weeks I'm all for it!
