I have a newer truck. It has that Ford app thing on the display for maintenance reminders and such. I've been wondering for a while if there is a way to disconnect the truck from anything outside techwise and if they built in negative effects if that is done. OCM computer or something? I'm sure...
Nothing is all good with no compromise anywhere. If so, one would be in every gun safe in America. Don't get me wrong, everything I have read is awesome. That's why I want to play with one. But, there has to be some sort of compromise.
I've always wanted to play with one of those. Always figured there had to be a "catch". 308 at true weight of 5.56. There has to be a reason it wasn't picked up for more widespread use. Is it just that a little heavier of a rifle does better with the 308? Was the proprietary nature of the parts...
Not sold. Maybe if I lived in the city or populated suburbs but it's just not for me yet. I'm not ignorant when it comes to electric vehicles. We have several in the family. Even a solid solar set up. It's just not there yet for my environment or needs.
When they get power storage, power generation, and the infrastructure set up makes better financial sense then it may be the future. But, it isn't there yet and trying to force the square peg in the round hole isn't going to magically make it work.
In that scenario I'd want either 300bo or a b&t apc10. I assumed "shtf" and "which long gun" did away with concealment scenarios. Probably the 300bo with a quick detach suppressor and a variety of rounds.
Depends on environment. I don't live in the city so I'd go longer. 14.5 pinned and welded. If I lived in a city, probably 11.5. A 14.5 is probably my favorite Jack of all trades master of none though if talking 5.56. 300bo? Different story.
Only if I'm trying to avoid notice. Easier to blend in. Most others will be using lights that can be seen from a good ways off. If it's cold it's warmer in the day. Moving at night keeps body temp up when it's coldest. Although, as pointed out by others, any prolonged cold weather is few and far...
The 3 piece system does work but it's big and bulky. I like to use a lighter bag with the bivy and a long fire in front of my tarp. In winter I'll add a poncho liner and the clear plastic and mylar poncho to the tarp for super shelter. Doesn't work if I'm trying to avoid notice but at that point...
The more you know the less you have to carry. Proper outdoor clothes and boots. I work mainly outside so I'm always dressed appropriately. A good tarp with 6'long x 3'wide sheet of clear plastic tarp and a mylar blanket (super shelter construction). A good shank of cordage (550 or bankline or go...
