The bottom rifle is a Barrett Mk22 ASR rifle (MRAD) with a Nightforce ATACR 7-35x w/ ZeroHold, Nightforce UltraMount and a KGM R338-ASR suppressor. The Mk22 is the current issued precision rifle for the Army, USMC and USSOCOM.
The middle rifle is the Remington Mk21 PSR rifle with S&B PMII...
You might take some emory cloth to the edges of the fluting so they aren't so sharp.
You can also buy a new bolt body, they aren't terribly expensive.

I get 2275fps out of my 12.5" HK417 and take it out to 600 pretty regularly. It's a pig even stripped down, so I use it as a compact precision setup. At 600, my Kestrel says that it's still going 1320fps and has almost 700ft pounds of energy on target, which approaches almost double what a...

Kang's did a lot of the Chinese AK importation in the 80's and sell the kits. That's where I got mine.

The issued Chinese AK's were far more prevalent with the folding spike bayonet. For sake of parts availability, you would be better off converting it to a spiker than going through the effort of trying to convert it for a regular bayonet. Finding the correct Chinese gas block with bayonet lug...
A few more pics in action:
If ya notice in some pics that some rifles have the front sight base mounted and others do not, you can see in this picture that the front sight base in some cases was just not mounted - you can see the drilled/tapped holes, but no mount.
Old Unertl's have shot up in value in recent years, but you can still occasionally find a good deal. The 1.25" scopes usually fetch more because it's the correct model for the USMC 1903A1 Sniper and the Model 70. The 8x models are especially pricy because people want them for the aforementioned...
It's been a while since I've been around here, but I thought I'd post some pics of my most recent build. It started as a Pre-64 (1950mfg) Model 70 that started out as a .270win that I converted over to .30-06, with the primary intent of building it up as a USMC Sniper rig as would have been seen...
I completely agree with you. If you really want one and think they're too expensive now, they're not going to get any cheaper so you might as well get it. I still might buy an SVT for $2500, but at $3k+ anymore, I've got other things I'd rather have.
I waited too long for my grail gun - an...
Same here - I'm familiar with it, but have never actually seen one with my own eyes. They remind me of as if a Krag and a 98K had a baby - kind of a neat looking rifle though.
