I think we're going to need some context. Did you "lose" it in a boat ride? Imagine throwing it at the feds like that guy in Arkansas they killed? Lose it on a walk in the woods? Get mugged? Sell it to a friend? Eat it with onions and A1 steak sauce?
I use a little 38 with rat shot and hollow points alternated. Works great. I've seen 22s miss. I never want to miss and a 38 carries about twice the pellets.
IIRC the G3 was the last model with the real tough outer coating. All the G4-G5 had DLC coating that would rub off or scratch easier than the original G3s.
So basically it has a spot for homemade guns (ghost guns) now, and has a 10 day waiting period for folks under 21.
Why didn't someone just say that to begin with?

If you have less than 500 acres the neighbors will hear it every time you drop a pie plate, much less shoot a 22. If you have 1000 acres you're less likely to be bugged as often, but still you'll get the law called on you occasionally.
I'd set up expectations by shooting on a schedule and stick...
