I never seen you mention what brass? Small rifle or Large rifle primer? Lapua small rifle? They make theirs with smaller flash holes, even if you use Small Rifle Magnum you can occasionally have some weird issues with powder ignition.
How's the PROOF shooting?
Sorry, I just seen this.. I bought pulls a long while ago and used to carry them as my SD Load, I gave the 250rd I had left to my nephew when he got a new P10F.
I settled on 5.3gr of Longshot (MP275). All the numbers are from a LabRadar..
They shot great, the primers had mild cratering.. Given...
I get what you're saying, I haven't experienced this issue.. But I got to thinking and all I could come up with is..
Use a case gauge, place the shallow primer pocket brass in there on a hard surface neck down, pocket up..
You're going to need a 3/16" steel rod ($6/48" Home depot) Cut to 6 or so...
Yeah if you do a Google search or are on the Reloading discord "BF556" makes them (I believe it was/is a big group effort from tons of people on castboolits.com) with adapters for all sorts of feeders. I already had every flavor of Hornady bullet feeder dies that I was using with a turret style...
It just broke mid processing 9mm brass. De-capping with FW Arms Popper die. https://fwarms.com/shop/reloading/decapping-dies/fw-arms-primer-popper-auto-case-centering-decapper-deprimer/ highly recommend it if you don't already own one. I was using Lee Universal and Squirrel daddy pins, but after...
Do you think Gorilla tape or glue to fix this? 🤣 Cheap crap pot metal casting.. I mean you spend a lot of money on these things, the least they can do is make some solid metal parts! haha here's a link to an older 1050 aftermarket part...
Another thing to note is the stellar velocity that is achievable with CFE BLK. Also look at the High 110 charge and the low BLK. 15,200psi for 38 additional fps. on the H110. I still really like H110/W296 for magnums and economical loads.. Hell, I even did up a bunch of cast bullet Fire...
Howdy, I've loaded 400 - 180gr Hornady XTP's in 35 Whelen with Great results. I used 200 for my barrel break-in and have shot another 200 just to see how fast I could get them going. I used QuickLoad for a starting spot and worked up from there.. Although I must say using precise numbers such as...
CFE BLK has remained in stock somewhere most of the last 2+yrs. It's still "comparatively" cheap, and a little works wonders. That being said I won't be getting any, until I can have it in my hands for $30lb or less.
I for one think CFE BLK is a very magical powder! I run it exclusively in 2 -...
I emailed the new RemArms this spring. They are going to be releasing a 700 in 35 Whelen this Fall/Winter!
I might pick one up, because it seems Remington only did them here and there through out the years.. They fetch a pretty penny on the resale market when not in production.
@cmshooThose...
Back from the dead!
Well I finally got around to taking some decent pictures of my Savage 110E 35 Whelen build and decided to share, mainly to show off @FatAlbert's beautiful work.
So it started off as an Armslist find in Blueridge, $340 with gas money back in May 2021.
I started ordering...
Well I went looking online for a long drop tube funnel and found the cheapest/best one was a Forster @ Midway
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1012691876?pid=293879
I didn't feel like waiting, so I went to Lowe's and spent $10.61 on 5ft of 3/8" copper coil and 3 fittings.
I rigged up...
Let's see Sat. I loaded a large storage bin with some powder :) I blended 9 - Different Alliant LOTS and 16lb. of American Reloading's MP 590 (Bulk Canister RL17)
I did this outside right near the open shop door with a fire extinguisher handy, eye-pro, and the bin, rubber spatula, funnel, and...
Since y'all seem to be on big F' Off pistol cartridges.. I was just loading up some 180gr .357" XTP's for my 6-Shooter (300WM mags hold 6)
Ok, so maybe it's more of a rifle :) 35 Whelen 45k psi loads. 180gr .357 XTP's riding over 61.1gr of WC732 (Shooters World Precision from my comparative...
